Diabetes Explained!

Diabetes is a condition that hinders the ability of your body to utilize energy derived from food. This disease is marked with a high level of sugar in the blood. Diabetes can occur due to genetic as well as environmental factors working together.

In 1998, the world had 143 million diabetic. In 2025, it is estimated that the number will rise to a staggering 300 million! With such an alarming increase in the number of diabetic patients, an epidemic is not far away.

Know Your Diabetes!

Diabetes is of two types: type 1 and type 2. Whatever its type, diabetes signifies an abnormal increase of glucose in the bloodstream. This abnormality occurs due to a lack of insulin in the body or maybe a lack of proper use of it. If the treatment is not done on time, this disease can give rise to a number of serious complications such as cardiovascular diseases, heart attack, amputations, nerve and blood vessel damage, blindness, bone problems, and impotence. It may also lead to coma or death.

Know your diabetes and be determined to fight it. Do not resign to your fate. Diabetes is treatable provided you are watchful of its first signs and follow the prescribed treatment strictly.
